Shannon spent 26 years in the communications field as a business journalist with the National Post and Calgary Herald. She also invested more than a decade working with Syncrude’s Public Affairs and Aboriginal Affairs departments, as well as with the the Oil Sands Developers Group, Chevron Canada, Cenovus and others. In her career with Postmedia, she helped create dozens of special reports on the energy industry with a special focus on environmental technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and R&D. She is now active advocate for CCAB’s Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) and Supply Change programs as well as for First Nations, Inuit and Métis businesses of all sizes as CCAB’s membership has now surpassed 2,400 member companies helping bridge relationships and create partnerships between Corporate Canada and Indigenous business to advance economic reconciliation.
Shannon is an active member of the Métis Nation of Alberta and comes from a line of Nêhiyawak matriarchs, with family roots in the Manitoba Red River Settlement, as well as the Métis of Willow Bunch and Qu’Appelle in Saskatchewan.
