The Disruptive Digital Innovator Award recognizes novel digital technologies advancing the energy industry. All technologies in this category should be at stages of initial production and rollout, full production mode, or commercial (post pilot stage). This category is open to digital technology concepts that are less than five years old and are considered “game changers” in the energy industry. Nominees in this category will be recognized for their potential to reshape industry norms, improve efficiency, and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.
Questions for Submitters:
The Emerging Clean Technologies Award is focused on innovative technologies or processes that improve environmental performance or decrease cost of production in the energy industry through significant energy efficiency improvements, the sustainable use of resources, or environmental protection activities. (Note: Carbon Credits will not be considered). Technologies in this category are in the post pilot, proven category that have positive impact on the environment (TRL 6-7). Nominees in this category are recognized as innovators driving transformative change, setting new standards for environmental responsibility, and shaping a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
Questions for Submitters:
The Emerging Leader Award acknowledges an up-and-coming individual whose efforts have already made a significant contribution to their organization, industry or community that go above and beyond their normal day to day duties. The nominee should stand out in terms of strategic thinking, leadership, community involvement and the pursuit of excellence in their field. The nominees in this category will have been in the energy industry for 10 or less years. Self-nominations are permitted in this category.

The Excellence in Energy Research Award celebrates the groundbreaking and transformative research being conducted by post-secondary institutions worldwide to advance the energy sector. It honors innovative projects and applied research that are driving progress, addressing global energy challenges, and shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions. Recognizing contributions across all forms of energy, this award highlights the critical role academic research and applied research plays in fostering innovation and providing real-world solutions. It acknowledges the visionary thinkers and teams whose work is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, paving the way for a cleaner, more efficient, and resilient energy future.

The Innovation in Technologies: Equipment or Process Controls Award recognizes highly disruptive innovations in equipment that have had a major impact on energy efficiency, emissions, economics, scheduling, or quality. This category also acknowledges projects, products, or services specific to controls that make a positive impact to the industry. All technologies in this category should be at either: initial production and rollout, full production mode, or commercial (post pilot). If the underlying solution is digital, it should be submitted under the Digital Innovator Award category.

The Methane Emissions Reduction Award recognizes organizations or initiatives that are leading the way in reducing methane emissions across the energy sector. Eligible projects may involve the development of cutting-edge technologies for methane detection, capture, or abatement, as well as best practices in operational management, infrastructure, and policy implementation. Awardees will demonstrate a measurable reduction in methane emissions, fostering cleaner air and advancing efforts to meet global climate targets. Nominees in this category will be recognized for their innovative technologies, strategies, and practices that effectively mitigate methane leaks and emissions, making a significant contribution to environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change.
