Energy Influencers Oil & GasThe biofuels market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 8.3%, reaching $US 243.4 billion as early as 2033 – primarily led by fuels produced from food crop sources (ethanol, soybean oil, canola oil, etc.). However, as the global population expands, securing adequate land for food production will be prioritized, putting a ceiling on acreage available for fuel production. Fortunately, bio-based crude oils from non-food crop sources like agriculture, forestry and municipal waste are attracting considerable attention as they are readily produced from known processes like hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) and pyrolysis. However, bio-oils produced from these methods are notorious for having both high water and oxygen content, among other impurities.
