Michael Kerr is Executive Director - Advanced Hydrocarbons for Alberta Innovates. The Advanced Hydrocarbons Team manages programs that improve both how hydrocarbons are extracted from the ground as well as the final products once those hydrocarbons are processed.

Michael has worked in both BC and Alberta and his career has spanned working for a small start-up as a laboratory chemist, a plant chemist for a fortune 500 company, running his own consulting firm, and a combined 26 years working for the National Research Council and Alberta Innovates focused on helping companies commercialize technology. He has also been a Chamber President in BC and involved in many not for profit boards. Michael is also a part time instructor for several courses within the UNBC MBA program.

Since 2014, Michael has been an esteemed and founding member of the GES awards judging panel, contributing his insight and expertise throughout the years.
