Brenda Beckedorf is a distinguished ecosystem builder, strategic thinker, and champion of technology-driven growth. With extensive experience fostering innovation across diverse industries, she is recognized for her ability to inspire collaboration and drive meaningful impact. Currently serving as the Interim Executive Director of the Calgary Innovation Coalition (CIC), Brenda plays a pivotal role in this consortium of organizations dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs, startups, and enterprises in the Calgary region. As a co-founder of Society 5.0, Brenda is passionately committed to unlocking the transformative potential of technology and innovation. Under her leadership, Society 5.0 envisions celebrating entrepreneurship and investment in technology while addressing the unique challenges faced by tech and innovation companies. Brenda’s leadership extends to her role as a Director at Startup Canada, a nonprofit that connects entrepreneurs across the country, breaking down geographic barriers and fostering collaboration within Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. She also serves as Vice Chair of Alberta Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), supporting women in business through advising, skills development, financing initiatives, and networking opportunities. Further exemplifying her commitment to community impact, Brenda is a Founding Member of the Digital Inclusion Collaborative Table, a United Way initiative focused on bridging the digital divide. This effort seeks to enhance digital equity, positively influencing mental health, economic progress, social connections, and relationships within the community. Previously, Brenda served as Executive Director of Alberta IoT, where she united stakeholders to accelerate the growth of Alberta’s technology sector locally and globally. Her leadership advanced collaboration, knowledge sharing, and adoption of IoT technologies, amplifying the region’s global presence in innovation. Brenda began her technology career as Director of Business Development at Graycon Group, contributing significantly to the company’s success. Her achievements have been widely recognized, including receiving the Universal Women Network Mentorship Award (2020). Brenda’s dedication to empowering women is further reflected in her past roles as Vice President of Calgary Women in Energy and Regional Director for AIoT Canada.
