Harshivam Bawa is a public affairs and Indigenous relations professional working to advance energy policy, economic reconciliation, and Canada’s international leadership in natural resources. He currently serves as Manager of Public Affairs at Energy for a Secure Future (ESF), where he works at the intersection of government relations, Indigenous engagement, and international energy cooperation. Harshivam has contributed to national policy dialogue on energy trade, reliable energy access, and emissions reduction, while building trusted relationships with First Nations leaders, policymakers, and industry partners across Canada.

He also serves as Chair of the Young Energy Professionals Network, representing over 1,000 emerging leaders across Canada’s energy sector. A passionate advocate for energy security, Harshivam’s work is shaped by his lived experience growing up in India, where frequent power outages made reliable electricity a daily concern. This perspective fuels his commitment to ensuring that all communities—especially Indigenous and remote—have access to modern, reliable, and clean energy systems. He believes Canada has a critical role to play in addressing global energy poverty and climate goals by supplying responsibly produced energy to countries seeking secure, lower-emission alternatives.

Prior to joining ESF, Harshivam was communications manager at the Canadian Gas Association, supporting national media relations, stakeholder engagement, and public advocacy campaigns. Fluent in four languages, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Fanshawe College, as well as a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication from Guru Nanak Dev University in India.
