Dr. Marwa Hannouf is a Postdoctoral Associate at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL) at the University of Calgary within the Global Research Initiative in Sustainable Low Carbon Unconventional Resources (GRI). She received her PhD in Environmental Design specializing in Energy and Environmental Systems from the University of Calgary in 2018. Currently, Dr. Hannouf’s research focuses on mitigating problem shifting and sub-optimization using life cycle sustainability assessment including environmental, economic and social assessment in different contexts including energy related technology development. The goal of her current project, with the team, is to create a safe and desirable operating space defining the thresholds for technologies/product systems to meet on the three dimensions of sustainability. Her research interests include life cycle sustainability assessment, social life cycle assessment, environmental sustainability, systems analysis. Implementing research results into a practical tool, Dr. Hannouf with the team are currently developing a commercial software tool for sustainability assessment within their new start-up TOSSA Sustainability Services supported by University of Calgary.
