As Dean for the MacPhail School of Energy at SAIT, Dale Hansen provides leadership to academic programs spanning the energy industry.

Prior to joining SAIT, Dale spent 25 years in the oil and gas and mineral resource sectors, through which his career saw a wide variety of leadership roles across multiple functions. His time spent in field locations, including the oilsands near Fort McMurray, provided Dale with a well-rounded perspective on the energy industry and developed his absolute passion for energy in all forms. Dale is an experienced facilitator and speaker who holds a Chartered Professional Accounting (CMA) designation and a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University.

Holding a strong belief in the pivotal role post-secondary education plays to ensure the supply of a robust talent pool, Dale spends much of his effort building vital relationships with industry leaders which inform SAIT’s ability to remain current in a rapidly changing environment.
