Marg McCuaig-Boyd served as the Member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly and Minister of Energy representing the northern, rural constituency of Dunvegan-Central Peace-Notley from 2015-2019.  During her time in government, as Minister, she oversaw the AER (Alberta Energy Regulator), the AESO (Alberta Electrical System Operator), lead the modernization for the Royalty Framework and oversaw the panels for the Petroleum Economic Diversification and Alberta Natural Gas Strategy reports.  Post government, Marg served from 2019-2023 as a Director on CUDGC (Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation); a board that oversees the regulation of all Credit Unions in Alberta. She is currently a Principal at Counsel Public Affairs.

Prior to her time in government, she spent more 25 years in public and post secondary education as a teacher, administrator and then as a Vice-President with Grande Prairie Regional College, administering the campus in Fairview.  She holds a BEd degree from the University of Alberta and an MA in Leadership from San Diego State University.  In 2005, Ms. McCuaig-Boyd was the recipient of the Robert H. Routledge Award from the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA) for outstanding service to Alberta students and for the promotion and operation of an athletic program. In 2016 she was inducted into the ASAA Sports Hall of Fame as an administrator.  In 2022, she received the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for her service to Alberta.
