Rana Khurram Shahzad, P.Eng., M.Eng. is currently working as the Lead Control Systems Engineer at Saudi Aramco. He graduated from University of Calgary with a Master's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering and holds Professional Engineer designation in the province of Alberta. Rana has 20+ years of experience in the energy industry of Canada and the Middle East. His areas of expertise include inferential models development, multivariable controls and real-time optimization to automate the plant operation, optimize energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. He obtained a US patent for full autonomous operation of the crude oil plant and was awarded at Gulf Energy Excellence Awards 2025 in Houston, Texas.
