Heather Carmichael

Prior to joining Executive Council, Heather Carmichael worked on the development of greenhouse gas reduction policies for the Government of Alberta within the Department of Environment since 2008. Key work included the development and implementation of three different provincial climate strategies, two industrial carbon pricing and emissions trading systems, and the development and implementation of Alberta’s methane management policy framework, including incentive programs to support methane emissions measurement and reductions, using market and pricing tools, and creating comprehensive regulations.

Heather has a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University focused on environmental policy and communication, and a Bachelor's degree from Dalhousie University in International Development and Marketing.
