Winona Lafreniere

Winona is a proud member of Pine Creek First Nation, the ancestral lands of Treaty 4 in northern Manitoba. With more than twenty years of experience as a project manager and program development leader, she recognizes the need for innovation and creativity in all aspects of her role as VP of Strategic Partnerships with Indigitech Destiny. She is passionate about utilizing her multidisciplinary expertise to transform the tech industry, prepare youth for the future, advance Indigenous economic prosperity, and influence the technology and natural resource sectors to drive success and optimize business results.

Her volunteer experience spans over three decades, focusing her efforts on empowering and engaging with youth and Indigenous leaders to address social, environmental, technological, and economic challenges. She is an active member of the Energy Futures Lab, Clean Resource Innovative Network, Calgary Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee, Project Forest, and recently joined the Faculty of Business, Environment, and Technology at Norquest College as an Advisor. Her community-led projects on an international scale also continue to transform many lives.

Her ancestral knowledge and ways of being helps to foster the growing demand for the sharing of ecological knowledge and wise management practices that will aid in reducing our environmental footprint and create a viable and sustainable future for many generations to come.
